In pondering the complexities of what it means to be an immigrant, Jorge Drexler’s song, Movimiento (Movement) poetically grounds us in our shared human nature to constantly be in movement – if not immigrants ourselves, we are descendents of immigrants. Drexler is an Uruguayan singer-songwriter whose grandparents fled Nazi Germany.
Some lyrics from Movimiento:
Listen to Movimiento (mow - bee - mee - EHN - tow) while watching the stunning music video featuring the Rarámuri indigenous runner, Lorena Ramirez. The video is filmed in the Sierra Tarahumara (the Spanish word for Rarámuri) in Chihuahua, Mexico.
