For more than 10 years, we have operated under the belief that teaching Spanish in California–a state where more than one third of residents already speak Spanish at home–has the power to transform lives and build bridges between people and communities.

We are excited to introduce our school’s new name: California Bilingüe.

Big Name. Big Vision.

We’re the same school offering private Spanish lessons, but our new name better represents our big mission and vision:

Our mission is to revolutionize adult Spanish education in California by guiding students to fluency through relationships and inviting them to take an active role in discovering how to use Spanish for social change.

We envision a future in which Spanish learners play a key role in fostering a culture of bilingualism in California that rejects English dominance and supports Latinx immigrants and their families in maintaining Spanish fluency and connection to their heritage for many generations to come.  

We are a Part of a Bigger Movement

We recognize that California is, and has always been, a bilingual state, rich with vibrant Latino cultures that define us in many ways. But, as a society, we are still working toward fully embracing bilingualism.

We need to reach a point where more Latinx people don’t feel like they need to place English over Spanish in order to thrive. Our students are a part of achieving this – by connecting in Spanish in their communities they are rejecting an English-centric society and, instead, fostering a welcoming culture of bilingualism.

We are thrilled every time a new student comes to us with the goal of connecting in Spanish with the people they see every day - family members, neighbors, and the greater community – this is what it's all about!

Our Role: Language Education that Works!

At California Bilingüe, we are here to support students in building genuine relationships with Spanish speakers. Building relationships requires more than just language skills. Our role in the movement is to not only carry Californians to Spanish fluency but also help them grow in their cultural competency, and for non-heritage learners, help them grow in their allyship to the Latinx community.
